Kevin Allein in New York 1992 Full Cast & Crew

O’Hara, who plays Kevin’s mum, thought her character wasn’t distraught enough at her son going missing . Conscious of Culkin’s advancing age, Columbus planned to film two sequels simultaneously before he got too old. But production studio Fox rejected the idea because it cost too much. So Alex D. Linz came in for the third film and it duly flopped. According to Pesci, who played Wet Bandit Harry, children would stop him in the street and divulge their home addresses in the hope he’d burgle them like in the film. During filming of the famous scene where Wet Bandit Marv gets attacked by pigeons, one bird accidentally flew into his mouth.

This line is visible twice, as he appears with the cutters and again just as he is cutting the rope. We see Kevin purchase and use a big bottle of laundry detergent. Yet at the end of the film, he tells his family that he bought "fabric softener".

John Hughes wrote the script after a bout of dad anxiety.

In the first movie, Harry is shown to have the intelligence to do things like pose as a cop in order to obtain information about security of neighborhood homes and also control neighborhood Christmas lights. In this film, he also devises a plan use the toy house at Duncan's Toy Chest as a way of hiding in the store after it closes in order avoid entering it from the outside and setting off alarms in the process. However, Harry is revealed to be actually more dimwitted than the master thief expert he presents himself as and even claimed that he never made it to the sixth grade.

At the toy store when Kevin is speaking with Mr. Duncan at the cash register, Duncan asks Kevin about all the money in his envelope. As Kevin is taking money out of the envelope to pay for his things he later uses to lure Marv and Harry, he places the envelope on the counter. When the camera switches back to the counter, the only things on there are the map and Swiss army knife. When Kevin requested to make a donation to the toy store, the money envelope was back in his hand. In-between, however, there is a close-up of Mr. Duncan handling the money to put in the cash register.

“Old Man Marley”s reunion was not in the original script.

He's relieved when the cops say that none of the money was taken, thanks to a brick that triggered the alarm. Then Mr. Duncan sees the note attached to the brick, with the person who wrote it apologizing for breaking the window. Kevin didn't do this expecting an award; he did it to make things right. Mr. Duncan gets a look in his eyes as he studies the Plaza stationery, does some detective work, and sends several rooms' worth of presents to the suite where the McCallisters are staying.

Kevin is not forgotten but hops the wrong plane after he puts fresh batteries in the family camera right before he gets to the gate at the airport (his family had all the bad luck with high winds knocking out the electric - and the alarm clock - twice). He mistakes a man with the same coat as his father and after Kevin reassures a flight attendant he's on the right plane, takes his seat ... In a plane heading in the exact opposite direction the rest of his family is going (naturally, no one realizes Kevin's missing until they're in Miami and he's in NY). Who could have thought a vacant New York brownstone could be so much fun? Sure, Pesci's and Stern's characters are more banged up this time but, hey, they started it.

Robert De Niro also reportedly turned down the role before it went to his friend and frequent co-star Joe Pesci. Christopher Columbus wasn’t the only one to almost miss out on the success of Home Alone. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern’s roles of bumbling thieves who have it out for Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin went through a large rotation of other casting choices.

The first film in the Home Alone franchise, the film stars Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, and Catherine O'Hara. Culkin plays Kevin McCallister, a boy who defends his suburban Chicago home from burglars after his family accidentally leaves him behind on their Christmas vacation to Paris.

How old was Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone?

Marv sticks his head through the doggy door and is shot in the forehead. ' version of "White Christmas" and once again screams from his father's aftershave as Buzz's tarantula roams free after escaping as a result of Kevin accidentally breaking the shelving. Kevin goes to the grocery store, where he encounters an inquisitive cashier. After Marv leaves the water running in the Murphy home — much to Harry's disapproval — they argue and almost run over Kevin in their van. Kevin finally recognizes Harry and starts to run as the suspicious burglars follow him.

Now, the way to view Lady Liberty is by ferry to the island she resides, and obviously up close once you're there. That's right, three entire decades have passed since everyone's favourite mischievous 10-year-old got left behind at Christmas again, but this time with The Big Apple as a backdrop. Although dress blues are prescribed in most regions in the United States during winter, the sailors are in Miami. When Kevin goes to the front desk to check in, the desk clerk takes Peter's credit card. By regular standards, the clerk should have asked for some form of I.D., or in this case, given the fact Kevin is a minor, she should've called the police instead. When running through the airport, a Marine in uniform walks by in the background.

The movie has the same number of slapstick humor and the same amount of fun, so this should be a holiday treat. Film critics such as Roger Ebert gave the film negative reviews and saw it as portraying violence as too cartoonish. Despite this fact, the mainstream popularity of the film saw it as a success and to most children of the 90s, the second instalment in the Home Alone series is often seen as equal in quality if not better than the first. Macaulay Culkin – one of the most famous child stars since Shirley Temple – returns as Kevin McAllister in the 1992 nostalgic and sentimental slapstick Christmas classic that has not dated since its original release. Home Alone 2 has pretty much the same plot as the first movie, but Home Alone 2 is a very good sequel.

The fact that the house is being renovated makes it more plausible that Kevin could set up traps of such a nature, and have them function without wrecking the house badly or having to clean it up. While Kevin and his family seemed to reconcile by the end of the first Home Alone, Home Alone 2 shows that Kevin's treatment in the McCallister household is, if anything, worse than it was in the first film. Still, Kevin also gets to have a lot of fun having his own vacation in New York's Plaza Hotel . That being said, charging everything to his father's credit card, including a $967 room service bill, is something that Kevin surely only skates by on due to his young age and being part of the McCallister family.
